How a counsellor can help

Counselling can be helpful because sometimes it’s easier to talk to a stranger than to relatives or friends. A counsellor can listen to you and help you find your own answers to problems. A counsellor will respect you and your opinions, and provide a sounding board for you to consider the various options that might be available to you. Counselling can be helpful for dealing with lots of things in a safe and contained environment that is confidential. Counselling can improve communication of negative emotions and can help to elevate mood. A counsellor can help you navigate the systems around you, whether that is your family system, the health system, work system or education system. Counselling can help if you need to have some difficult conversations with people around you. Counselling can often be serious, but supporting people to find fun in their lives is important.
